Tourist#2
Video originally shown as part of an installation in the Sint Norbertus Psychiatric Hospital,
Duffel, Belgium. November 2003
Based on ( Dessins Pour Assassiner La Magie), a poem by Antonin Artaud.
Video: A standing woman in a white night gown stares in front of her.
From time to time she begins to twitch and make other nervous gestures, but behaves as if in a trance.
Audio: Occasional sounds are heard in the background, such as finger nails scratching furniture,
pacing and heavy breathing.
Additionally, a woman’s voice recites the poem in the original French, but the audio is manipulated in such
a way that the poem becomes fragmented, with the same voice at times heard on multiple tracks.
The video is accompanied by English subtitles.
Audio-visual: projector or monitor, DVD player, sound system with multiple sound speakers,.
